Rolando Morejón Expert Violin Instructor Specializing in Latin Rhythms Professional Violinist | Arranger | Musical Director | Improviser Havana, Cuba Professional Summary Rolando Morejón is a Cuban violinist born in 1972 in Havana, Cuba. A graduate of the prestigious Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, he trained under the guidance of renowned teachers Carmen Blanco, Armando Toledo, and Igor Frolóv. Known for his versatility and deep musical command, Rolando has developed an extensive career as a violinist, arranger, musical director, improviser, and educator. His artistic language spans a wide range of genres, including jazz, Cuban music, Latin jazz, danzón, cha cha chá, popular music, and contemporary Latin styles. Professional Experience In 1988, Rolando joined the Enrique Jorrín Orchestra, one of the most important institutions in Cuban popular music. He later became the orchestra’s musical director, a role he held for more than 13 years, consolidating a distinguished career within Cuban music. In 1990, he received the Grand Prize for Best Danzón and Cha Cha Chá Composition at a festival held in Havana. He also composed two works for the Mexican film Demasiado Amor. Throughout his career, Rolando has performed on major stages across the Americas and Europe, including countries such as Canada, Argentina, Colombia, the Netherlands, France, England, and Spain. In Mexico, he has participated in recognized cultural fairs and festivals, including the Cervantino Festival, the Mexico City Book Fair, the San Marcos Festival, and many others. In 2008, he completed a national tour in Mexico with the orchestra he currently directs, presenting his album Chachacheando in important theaters and venues across the country. His most recent album, Rolando por un Violín, is available in Sanborns stores throughout Mexico.
